Through video training offered at the Channel 11 production facility, Redding Community Access Corporation encourages community members, through organizations or as individuals, to
produce, participate in, and cablecast television programs. RCAC wants to interest and serve members of the community in developing purposeful television productions, and in this way, promote awareness,
understanding and involvement among
citizens within the community. By becoming involved in
production and cablecasting of access TV programming, citizens can exercise their individual freedom of
expression and allows individuals, organizations
and agencies to present a variety of programs on various community issues.
Learning to Produce Television
How to Become a Producer
Local access producers are individuals or
groups certified to use the facility in utilizing
the television medium for the purpose of communication as granted by the Constitution. Producers cover their own expenses. In
some cases underwriting may be obtained to offset
or supplement production costs. Local access producers accept full responsibility for the content and quality of the program.
Training Courses
Individuals can take a beginning
hands-on training course in basic television production.
A Production Assistant card is issued upon successful completion of the course. Class size
is limited to 20. There is a fee and
preregistration is required.
Studio Production Workshops
Nonprofit organizations wishing to produce
their own videos for airing on Channel 11 can
arrange for a studio production workshop. At the end
of the workshop, group members will have the knowledge and basic skills needed to
actually produce a television program from the
studio. These are onetime sessions, normally
scheduled on a weekend from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.
